Peabody MA obituary, death

Born in Boston and grown in Canton, Chris showed an early interest in life and knowledge. Having studied Germanic Studies at Boston College, he went to Boston University for a Master's Degree in Education. His academic interests laid the ground for a lifelong spent inspiring others and encouraging in his pupils intellectual curiosity.

For over three decades, Chris was a cherished German instructor at St. John's Preparatory School in Danvers, where his warmth, excitement, and true concern for his pupils had a long-lasting effect. To many young people, he was a mentor, a guide, and a source of motivation in addition to an educator. Chris worked as yearbook moderator and faculty mentor to the Prep Leadership Institute, positions where he helped define not just ideas but also the nature of future generations.

Beyond the classroom, Chris's appreciation of culture and language spread out. Through immersive student excursions to Germany, he spread his love of German language and culture, therefore broadening perspectives and promoting worldwide understanding. He was also a highly regarded member of the SwingTown! a cappella group, where friends and co-workers alike shared his passion of music.

Acknowledging his leadership and dedication to education, Chris was given the Theodore Ryken Award, the highest accolade for teachers at Xaverian Brothers-associated institutions, in addition to the Archdiocese of Boston Excellence in Education Award—recognitions reflecting the great respect he earned across his career.

Beyond his career successes, Chris was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. His mother, Tara C. Lynch; his siblings Thomas, Edward J. III, Maryann, Richard, and Tara; and his numerous nephews and nieces, who will carry on his legacy of compassion, happiness, and love survive him.

Visitation hours at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home in Canton will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.; a Funeral Mass will be conducted Monday morning at St. Oscar Romero Church. Rather of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to St. John's Prep, so helping the educational goals Chris valued.

Driven by compassion, inventiveness, and a lifelong dedication to knowledge, Chris's legacy will keep inspiring everyone who knew him. May his memory serve as a blessing.
