 Brisbane, Queensland — The communities of Brisbane Grammar School and St Peters Lutheran College are in mourning following the tragic death of Rylan Pribadi, a student at Brisbane Grammar School, who lost his life in a skiing accident on Wednesday, January 7, while in Niseko, Japan.

Brisbane Grammar School conveyed this sad news in a statement released with “heavy hearts,” confirming the death of Old Boy Rylan Pribadi ’25. The school remarked that Rylan passed away engaged in an activity he cherished, a feeling shared by friends, classmates, and faculty as tributes continue to emerge.

Rylan became part of Brisbane Grammar School as a boarder in 2022, starting in Year 9, and rapidly earned the respect and appreciation of the boarding community. Recognized for his friendly demeanor and approachability, he developed strong bonds with both fellow students and staff during his time there.

A dedicated football player, Rylan had a notable impact on the school's athletic programs. In 2025, he was a key member of the Premiership-winning First XI football team and also served as a Boarding Prefect that same year—positions that highlighted his leadership, dependability, and commitment to others.

In its statement, Brisbane Grammar School characterized Rylan as friendly, reliable, and profoundly dedicated to those around him, emphasizing that his loss has deeply affected everyone who knew him. “Our school community grieves for the loss of a bright and cherished member of the BGS family,” read the statement.
