 Andy Frith, Florence, AL, Death and Obituary – The community of Florence, Alabama, is in mourning following the death of Thomas Andrew “Andy” Frith, who peacefully passed away at the age of 50 on Sunday, January 11, 2026. Andy’s departure represents a significant loss for his family, friends, and the numerous organizations and causes for which he dedicated his efforts. Well-regarded for his leadership, advocacy, and steadfast commitment to civic responsibilities, Andy leaves a legacy filled with compassion, creativity, and enhancements to the community.

Born on January 11, 1976, Andy led a life deeply anchored in service and interpersonal connections. He was recognized as a devoted father, steadfast friend, and passionate champion for social justice and cultural involvement. Individuals who had the pleasure of knowing him remember his generous spirit, thoughtful leadership, and earnest wish to make Florence a more welcoming and lively community for all.

Andy was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where his beliefs influenced both his personal ethics and his contributions to society. His engagement in civic activities included various prominent roles. He held the position of Past Board President at the Florence/Lauderdale Public Library, advocating for literacy, educational opportunities, and community engagement. While he led this effort, the library bolstered its status as a vital hub for learning and community connection.

Additionally, he acted as Past President of Downtown Florence Unlimited, Past Chairman of Florence First Fridays, Past Chairman of Arts Alive, and was a devoted member of Project Say Something. Through these roles, Andy was instrumental in rejuvenating the downtown area of Florence, supporting the arts, fostering civic involvement, and encouraging substantial community dialogue. His approach to leadership was collaborative, defined by empathy, vision, and committed behind-the-scenes involvement.

A passionate enthusiast of music and the arts, Andy held a strong belief in their ability to unite people and promote understanding. His dedication to cultural development created environments where creativity and inclusivity could flourish. Friends and colleagues recall him as someone who prioritized listening, acted with care, and consistently led with kindness.

Andy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Lorena Frith; his maternal grandparents, Aaron and Irene Silverman; as well as his aunt, Anne Lorena Gilliam.

He is survived by his parents, Tom and Jane Frith; his cherished daughter, Evelyn Drew Frith, and her mother, Tosha Frith; along with his sister, Jennifer Frith Knapp (Tim Knapp) from Roswell, Georgia. Andy’s profound love for his daughter was a central aspect of his life, and he took great pride in being a committed father and guiding influence.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Florence. A memorial service will take place afterward at 3:00 p.m., led by Dr. Taylor Todd.
