Following the terrible murder of Kimberly Stewart, 51, in Indianapolis, police made a quick arrest. Authorities confirmed that Travis Wolfe, 45, known as a serious violent offender, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), after hearing a report of an unconscious woman, officers from the Southwest District were sent around 11 p.m. Tuesday to the 1300 block of South Lynhurst Drive.
When police arrived, they found Stewart in the backyard traumatized. She was pronounced dead at the scene, which started an urgent investigation by the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit.
Wolfe was arrested hours after the finding and taken into custody on a murder allegation. Police attribute the fast arrest to relentless investigation and helpful community input.
Deputy Chief Kendale Adams of the IMPD commended locals and detectives for their collaboration in quickly apprehending a suspect.
Adams said, "A dangerous person is in custody today thanks to the relentless efforts of our detectives and the bravery of the people."
