The Waco neighborhood grieves the terrible loss of 19-year-old Algeron Dixon, Jr., who was fatally shot Friday afternoon close 11th Street and Clay Avenue. The city's first murder of 2026 is the sad event.

Dixon was discovered suffering from several gunshot wounds and taken to a nearby hospital where he was later declared dead, according to the Waco Police Department. Family members, friends, and neighbors are grief-stricken as they battle to accept the loss of a young life gone much too quickly.

In relation with the shooting, authorities have charged twenty-year-old Reginald Lewis, Jr., with murder.

 Furthermore accused of failure to report a felony and tampering with evidence is 19-year-old Savannah Birdwell. Police said that the inquiry is still underway as detectives gather evidence.
